I want to use I2C to control 6 port expanders connected to 7 -16 channel triac boards.  One triac board will act as a "matrix controller" meaning the other triacs will only output if this one board is activated.

I have lots of experience with PICs and PicBasicPro where I've done a similar project, but NOT with I2C, but all hard-wired (lots of cables).

I have been researching I2C with PICs and with Arduino and the latter seems to be easier because of the Wire library.  I haven't found anything easy - YET - for the PIC.   The Tronix tutorials have been very helpful.

Does anyone have experience in this area?  I want to control 225 incandescent bulbs individually.   Attached is concept drawing.Star2018Block.jpg
